Now, we certainly can't base it off of such a small sample size, but the complaints about getting lots of elixers in a row is troubling. Everyone knows that elixers are the new booby prize at the shrine, when previously even getting 100x crystals and ED were at least reasonably useful.

At level 67 you tell me whether or not I can use most of the stuff.

Maybe not most of it, hell, I barely have access to most of it. Have you figured out your playstyle yet? I.E. Are you maging or melee? How are your stat points allocated? Have you asked for assistance from experienced players before considering the game broken? How are you using the tools currently available to you?

At low levels this game is amazingly unforgiving. It might be different now, but I recall that it didn't start getting easy until about 100 for me. Maybe it will be the same for you.

Or, you can always just quit and not worry about it if it's causing you this much grief.

Not too sure about the drop rate, but I just got one on normal a short while ago.

I don't know where you get your education from, but where I live my lecturers actually knows their shit. They're all successful developers/dev+entrepreneur who teaches for fun and passion.

Not at all, but I did ask for help when I found it necessary to do so, mostly out of confusion or frustration. I'm also a melee, full plate switching between 2H, DW and Niten Ichiryu, I allocated my points to all be even and that was a disaster, but after a while I pushed to STR/END 20 over level, DEX/AGI equal to level and INT/WIS 10 under level after asking in the Ask the Experts thread in HV Chat what I was doing wrong and that's worked fine for me so far.

Dude, I agree with him and I have managed real-world projects. The problem is you want to be super-sekritive about the changes when there is no justification to do so. Aside from, at most, a minority taking advantage of the pending changes to do last-minute grinds/trainings/mods/stocking-up, what is there to loose by being open? If you would publish your list of changes a week in advance and solicit for a decent sample of players to test them for you and general feedback from the community, then you could have fixed many of these issues before the slammed us in the ass, unlubed. Also an argument could be made that you made too many changes to too many things at once.

What I like:
- You can't learn all the spells
- Your monsters get you materials more often
- The protection spike with your protection spell
- New items! (That's why I'm holding off upgrading anything even though I'm loaded with material)

What I do not like:
- A greatly reduced battle-item inventory (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif)
- WTF? removal of potions?
- WTF? you need to feed your monsters? What is this, Neopets??
- WTF? Skill upgrades that require level 300 and 400? Curiously, how many players are up there in that level range?
- The crit and hit % chances were reduced by quite a lot because of this change; I used to do 40% crit and 150% hit. Lower now. Not sure of the effect yet.
- reduced crystal drops from defeating monsters at high difficulties
- reduced drops, period. (It seems)


Of course the fact that a lot of skills are still glitched out and not appearing is still a pain. But that's not a major concern.

For my money, proficiency doesn't really matter much until later levels, thus I don't worry about it. I just stuck to a single weapon and armor style and am now just starting my offensive magic prof. Domino Strike is working out fine enough at the moment, but using Niten I need to get 2H a bit above the piddleshit 50 it is right now. But this is all anecdotal.
