Took a break from FF1 to see if anything got better. After playing some arenas:
Losing the artifact AP should spark some kind of major concession for those that were farming artifacts for the AP; I want to be able to play as other styles as sticking with one way of doing things = no fun factor. I do understand the need to give higher level players something to work towards again, and you did, but you also eliminated playing as both a mage and melee...heck, I can't even max out my one melee sets with the AP costs, even at my level. Speaking of which, whatever happened to all of my soul spell ability tree points anyway?
Not really a fan of the feed-a-monster stuff. But I only upgrade my mobs to get some materials to sell to try and offset the crummy credit situation, and I've gotten food drops.
The auras being nerfed should also spark some kind of concession - first losing kit%, and now bonuses. I would have spent my hath towards IA first so this is a big bait and switch. And I heard mods lose some power too. Having that hath back and then letting players re-choose is warranted. Same goes with Mastery points as many have already stated.
Widescreen bites for me. My durable square LCD is a workhorse and I'm not giving it up when a solution could be found for both screen sizes.
Battle items: I'm in for the refund pool...there was no reason to lose all of those slots and then spend all those credits just to restore them. Credits are impossible enough to come by as it is.
Things are less broken than they were before since spark and cure got improvements, but all of that costed even more. Spirit went back up but I am still shy 30% that I had maxed.
I haven't tried mage yet but when I go up the next level (yes I am going to see what happens) I want to see how grinding that level of prof goes when I have no AP put into staff, cloth, or mage attack spells. It doesn't sound like fun.
So things are a little less bleak, but there is still a lot of work left to be done just to get players back to what they could do before, to say nothing about improving the playing situation.

QUOTE(T_Starrk @ May 18 2013, 15:54) Frenzied on more than one target has always been slower than just activating spirit stance and ripping through enemies so that's no big loss, imo. The extra damage from OC is though, and nerfed dual-wield against a single target rather heavily. Game is still too easy for IWBTH methinks. I want a higher difficulty level on the next patch, with increased equip drop quality.
Have you tried new Blood Arena ? the Three Trio ? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Try IWBTH difficulty.. ( I think you'll win though since your equip is godly (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) ) For Frenzied Blow, from what I observe, the overall damage now is even more nerfed since the calculation of outer limit monster ( not the main clicked monster ) is lower. Not only mage, but melee also got nerfed.. need new adjustment right now (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

QUOTE(aizenteppa @ May 19 2013, 10:48) Normal Green Potions kind. It is easy to miss if by any chance you get whole two drops every 20 rounds. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) There is still plenty of things wrong, but on a slightly illuminated note. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Cooldowns on offensive spells are little trimmed, but it can still be better (still possible to face mobs resistant to anything without Dark/Holy, but at least 7 turn is gone). Definetevly Absorb is pain in the backside. 20 turns. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) Maging without Scrolls of Absorption is bad idea, certainly at higher levels. Absorb is even triggered on Normal at regular intervals. On Hell it happens like every 10 rounds, and IWBTH is just constant. End of a note lol Amount of clicking is simply atrocious. Mage is not melee, by definition it should deal with mobs at distance not in hand-2-hand combat. In current shape I find HV unplayable for anything more than hourlies and occasional GF spin/tests. With limited time HV is not a viable option to play with one arena per hour or two (putting lousy rewards aside). I expect all my mobs to be empty by end of next week. There is simply no way of keeping then alive with time constraints I have (and certainly not only me). Old system was just fine. It allowed decent progress with decent amount of time and effort invested. With new setup time and effort required to achieve same return as before grew astronomically, shoot into the sky, jumped into trans-warp conduit, turned left near Galactic Core and... I lost the sight of it. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Hey man, if you want you can have my foods. I'm getting shitloads of all types of food and it is fucking annoying since I only have 3 active mobs and chaos tokens drop even less now. I agree that the changes are making this patch are coming along, a much better improvement to the total assraping I woke up to. Still, it feels like I'm taking it unlubed. Like you, one of my main sticking issues is the the atrocious Credit nerf from loosing the Stamina bonus (among other things). I would propose: - Credit drops be slightly improved or scale logarithmically to kick in the reward after enough rounds to prevent abuse.
- Bring back the old arenas or re-allow credit drops in IW/GF.
Now, this new loot drop punishment for grinding below HELL is just killing me. I can't do IW/+80 arenas at Hell+ difficulty, especially now that I lost all my item slots. The worse part is it has a cool-down so the punishment affects other battle series besides the one you did at the lower level. C'mon 10Bro, revert that and bring back Heroic. Further, I still think there is a bug in magic proficiency awards since I am getting Weapon/Armor prof like every ~10 strikes but casting 100 spells nets me nothing.

The quoted poster says this. The quoted poster is also a member of the gold star club. *cough*ULTERIORFUCKINGMOTIVE*cough* I mean, it's not like everyone's a potential customer if it's enjoyable right? Why do you think stuff like League of Legends is so big? Why do you think every F2P game is so big? If enough people find enjoyment, they'll pay for extra. [I do remember some people talking about losing the hath aura perks though. Sounds like that bit them in the ass pretty hard.]

QUOTE(cavecricket48 @ May 19 2013, 08:52) This isn't going to be read by many people, that's not possible. The vast majority of people here are far higher leveled than I am, and will just laugh it off. But I feel like somebody needs to speak on the low-leveled scrub front about why the new ability tree feels... crippling.
- The previous system allowed you to do something every level.
- Every ten levels, you got this nice little bonus in the form of an Aura point and a new tier of skills.
- This system is like "Fuck you, get to level 90/175/230/etc. first."
- Aura benefits weren't redistributed elsewhere. I think this is pretty big personally, I dunno about anyone else.
- Right now, between my level and... whenever the next big thing is... I literally have nothing to look forward to. There's no real incentive besides that shining light at the end of the road to keep going. It's gonna take a while. I've already slotted them. And I'm still about 20-25% weaker than before this update. Your point?
Legit concerns. HOWEVER the new format gives you more freedom to CHOOSE from support abilities that weren't really accessible to you before. Sure some tiers are locked till you level up, but it was way more restrictive before this. The only thing missing is that your proficiency is no longer capped at your level but let's say 20% above it. That way you could unlock skill to match your playstyle earlier. Which would be fair, imho.

Don't bullshit me. I see gold star, I infer that you paid. I would believe other people who have no clue who the fuck you are would also infer this. Oh thank you almighty child, you have cleared that up. *cough*SOMEONESTILLPAIDMONEY*cough* QUOTE(Death Grunty @ May 19 2013, 11:25) Legit concerns. ...The thing missing from my argument? Why would it have been there in the first place? At my level, you level up far faster than you gain proficiency. Something to remember. I guess getting Regen right now is fun and all, but I'm still weaker and because of it I consume more mana as a result at a faster rate. This post has been edited by cavecricket48: May 19 2013, 17:30

Maybe you should slow down and figure out how to play the game before you become completely apoplectic. Also, get that cough checked out.

OH MY GOD YOU USED THE WORD APOPLECTIC I AM INTIMIDATED BY YOUR MASTERY OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE. Da fuq? Are you seriously thinking that? Oh, and how the hell do I learn to play the game when- as of this patch- I haven't even unlocked 40% of the possible upgrades for my abilities? It's not a matter of me choosing not to learn, I can't because I've never used the shit before and therefore can't adapt to nuances I've never experienced. Don't worry about my cough, worry about yourself bud.

QUOTE(Tenboro @ May 19 2013, 21:34) Haha, right. Why the hell would you care about what your CS lecturers think when you're at the point where you can get fired if you screw up something important? Which, btw, HV isn't.
Incidentally, CS lecturers don't know shit either, they go under the "those who can't do, teach" heading. At their level, and the level you are at after studying under them, you may be able to code a mergesort with the help of some notes and a complete pseudocode implementation, but complex projects are a completely different ballpark.
Hell, I have a real life example for you. One of my "teachers", and I use the term lightly, tended to have massive rants against public/private method definitions, under the theory that "why the hell would you make anything private? I could just make it public if I wanted to use it".
I don't know where you get your education from, but where I live my lecturers actually knows their shit. They're all successful developers/dev+entrepreneur who teaches for fun and passion. So don't go making sweeping generalizations like that, it makes you look bad. As for your example, I know plenty of idiots and failbosses too, doesn't mean that every single one of them is the way you think. Don't be the frog at the bottom of the well (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
