It is certainly a risk. Ten years ago I did not have periods when I did not feel like playing anything, not nearly as often anyway. It would require me to find something else to spend my time on to drop video games completely though.

If it happens, take a break. Read a book or you'll suffer burnout.
Plenty more hobbies to try and games will be there when you return.

Nah although I have been slightly burned out lately from games and 99% of new releases all look the same and I just cannot be bothered to give it a shot so I stick with old games

Maybe a little, TTRPG's and books seem to call to me more as I get older.

I just get really depressed that I cant get stuff done to progress my life in meaningful ways. Then looking at games I just feel lost and find them pointless. Maybe if I got over that hump I could play the games I want to play but as it is I play less and less

I think as long as I have time off from work I can keep playing all the games I like.

Years ago, I would've told you no way it'lll happen. But, then a friend died. And i've not gamed anywhere near as much as I did in the past.

I might play less depending on the circumstance but I think my life would have to take a really bad turn for me to stop entirely.

My father still plays 'em and he's on his way to 70 having started around the time he was a bit into his '20s.

Honestly, find myself growing tired of games… mostly reading stuff now, either fics or real books. Maybe I’m getting old. Or games these days are all under the same umbrella

Indeed, there is almost no appeal at all in games these days.
