Do you see yourself getting tired or growing out of playing video games anytime soon? |

I don't know tbh. I dont want to, but I just get bored so easily now with games. When I was a teen it was non-stop, used to play gmod to much 8 years ago. Now it just seems useless racking up numbers on a screen. Been thinking of getting into VR, possibly that can rekindle it from what I have seen.

Videogames surplanted books as my favored method of escapism long ago - it will take something that can remove me from reality even further (while continuing to offer interactivity) to encourage me to become less engaged with them. AR peripheals are akin to mere toys, in terms of what I'm imagining. It would have to be true virtual reality/VR - whatever that would exactly entail I can only speculate. (of my own volition, that is. there is always the possibility that some factor in my life forces me to disengage with videogames prematurely...)

Probably not, but if you don't live a somewhat balanced life I think you can get sick of playing all the time.

When there is too little or too much work, my interest in gaming decreases significantly. The former would make me bored, the latter would make me tired of working.

I am now, when everything is 99% required to be politically correct and ecchi bits are stigmatized as female degradation.

I think I already did. Except for some old games that I've been playing for years (for old times' sake), I barely could finish a new game. Although sometimes my autism kicks in... and I end up playing a game for almost a day without eating, drinking, etc.

I can totally see me abandoning games. I almost did a few times without pretending, it just happened. However, I always come back. The way I play games has changed a lot. I used to love jrpg games, ANY of them, they were like a dream... I used to create mods for any game I could, putting a lot of hours in learning how to do stuff. I even learned how to use python to make some games properly.
But now none of those things feel attractive. I like short experiences, short indie games, or games more focused on the experience than the gameplay. And now I am barely able to play jrpg (or watch anime by the way). It suddenly feels so boring, I don't know why. Like if I had already played it before, like if I already knew those characters and they can't ever surprise me anymore.
There are some exceptions here and there. And I am still used to look for jrpg games so I still buy them and TRY to play them. But I rarely finish them. Persona 4 for example, I wanted to play it for years and when I got it... I played 20 hours, got incredibly bored and abandoned it. Tales of Vesperia, I had listened so many great things about it... I started it last year, and in one week and 20 hours later I was out. It took FOREVER to start. Like Final Fantasy XV, like what the fuck, it killed me of boredom.
I am having a better experience with Tales of Arise, it starts relatively fast. And Xenoblade 3 too. I want to like them. I really want to.
It's weird to get old. I feel the same in the inside but the way I approach the world is different, despite my own conscious will to not change. In my early 30s sometimes I speak to people with 25 years old and I suddenly noticed that I am not talking to the real thing. Their opinions and beliefs are incomplete, like mine was, I find the holes where I used to have them. Then I lose interest. Even in women, people with my age are so much more interesting.
Kind of sucks to be honest.

I'm pretty much becoming tired of video games, mostly because I've come to the realisation that my life isn't stable enough to keep using video games as an escape from reality
Been playing games since I was like 9 or 10 yo and having some degree of skill in the games I spent time playing and from the sense of achievement in some games, especially rhythm games it became from a hobbie to an obsession that didn't seem at first glance to have any negative effect since I had great friendships, decent body condition and good grades on school.
But now that I'm entering university I fear for the fact that I dont have enough money to pay for the university that I want to study in, even though with my current grades I could still enter the university for free but I'm not ready to handle the stress and I don't feel like I have the study habbits to go through my first year.
Porn is also a escape from reality but I don't watch it nearly as much as I used to play video games (4-5 hours per day).
In my effort to getting myself to study or at least do more productive things I uninstalled steam and I only play rhythm games occasionally.
Apart from the university thing I got other problems to take care of but I don't want to share those o:

Gaming is really important to me, my Gf and me really game alot together, i keep in touch with friends who moved away with coop games, recently i noticed several games tend to get very simple but then there are some funny consumables (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) decreasing your peak performance and suddenly this kids games (nintendo, super simplified games, ect) are fun again. I was never a "finish this game to get rid of it" guy, so recently i noticed its even harder to start and keep motivated to play some single player games from start to ending. Additionally there are so many games, sometimes its hard to choose whats currently worth your time, so i waste alot of time searching for that one game, filling my need 100% just to not have time to play it. Compared to that time when there were only 3 games currently being played and i gamed the x out of every single one.

I've definitely gotten tired of a lotta modern releases lately, but replaying and going through my backlog has been the most fun I've had in gaming in years; Not having to go new release -> playplayplay -> beat -> repeat and instead getting to know the games I'm playing more in-depth and getting better at them has been pretty rewarding. The money I've saved is also nice

Surprisingly, yes. For some reason, with age, games cease to bring the pleasure that was in childhood or adolescence. And for me, this even affected those games that I love to this day, what can't be sad.

Less free time is a bigger factor for me. On the good side, it has made playing videogames for those short periods very enjoyable

I don't think I'll ever completely stop playing games.
