Video Games are just a modern version of playing Pool or Darts at the bar. Just one more game-i-fied version of social interaction combined with a storytelling medium like reading books, combined with an arbitrary skill-based hobby.

Time spent on gaming is going to vary just like time spent on any of these other hobbies. When things get more busy, I divert some time away from the hobby, and when I have more time to spend gaming, I re-invest that time.

I don't see any real reason to freak out about games being "worse" than any of the other hobbies a person might have. Negatives are not unique to video games, while videogames, being a unique medium, does have some positives that no other medium can touch.

I stopped playing console years ago. I only play modded games as they add replayabilty, improve on the core game and more be made immersive. I find myself playing games that have been out for years rather than new releases but that might be because I'm such a bore...

If gaming continues the trend of cinematic movie games. Very few are fun in the slightest.

I play a lot less now than I used to. Also find myself replaying older games more. Part of the problem is a lot of new games are always 'in development' for years with updates etc. which means they never feel finished

Kind of. I used to be able to play games for hours, only stopping to go to the toilet or having a snack. Nower day I pick up and put down games about every 30-45 minutes.

I already grew out of "modern" games for the most part just because they so many publishers have crummy business practices.
As for games in general, I don't see myself getting tired of/growing out of them, although I do foresee myself running out of old games I haven't played yet that I want to.

Honestly this is a question I have been pondering as of late. during my first year of college and the following 2 years, post freshman dropout status achieved, I rarely played antything and thought I was done for good... and then fortnite came out.... I was hooked. played that ch1.se1 through ch2.se1 and finally kicked it.... to replace it with Modern warfare and no lifed that and thought it would be the end.........I was wrong, currently amungst top 25,000 players in Cold War (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

That's very deep question, and the answer is as long as it remains fun, I'll keep doing it forever.

(P.S.: this is my first post without having to solve the CAPTCHA, so ... yay)

In a sense, yes. The last console generation is the first that I didn't feel a strong desire to own multiple consoles-- I only picked up the PS4. Nothing on the current gen tickles my fancy. Generation by generation I get fewer and fewer games, maybe only a dozen or so games for the PS4.

On the other hand, I can always go back and play old games and still enjoy myself.

It goes in cycles, just like anime. I'll go months w/o playing any games or watching any anime then pick them up again for several months.
