QUOTE(skillchip @ Mar 4 2013, 00:34) Looks like leveling the forge will be hard now. I wonder how many sets it will take. But at least it will make more people use it possibly.
I don't know how to level up the forge now. It seems that salvaging the item will reduce the forge exp, so it is impossible to get forge exp by upgrading then get back some of the materials. Well, this patch is very good to encourage people to forge, but to me, it is even worse to level up the forge compare to last patch since at least in the last patch I can get back 50% of binding for a sup/exq level item. But now, it only can sell to shop otherwise no exp gain. Well, well, well, at least it is a good news to the players already have a 50 level forge (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) This post has been edited by andywong: Mar 3 2013, 19:13

Don't try to powerlevel it since it will increase itself over time. Mine is 33 just by upgrading Gear I actually use and will be about 40ish when done with my Holy Set.

This patch is most welcome! @mechafujoshi: True, but anyone who starts saving up chaos tokens is at the point where they have so many monsters that they cannot be hurt by that method much other than burning said tokens. And creating penisland monsters, I suppose. @chamois: Wouldn't demand increase if forging is more affordable? Anyhow, you still lose the equip when salvaging, so this means good news generally for equips that aren't disproportionately valuable, in which case they can be sold QUOTE(Ichy @ Mar 3 2013, 17:24) Actually Frith has to suffer because he said bad things about Momo! (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Were those bad things actually false (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)?

So under the new forging rules, is it worthwhile to keep, sell, or salvage this thing?

Time to get a hammer and pay my first visit to the forge. What was that place for before this patch? It seemed somehow not worth going into.
Great patch, thanks.

Even though I think I lasted boosted that now salvaged staff back when equipment still had regular levels, Forging it cost me 889 forge xp and dropped me back down to Level 3. I also did not get any high grades out of salvaging it, but at least I got 4 Bindings of Destruction back.

Well, this patch didn't change much. At least not directly.
I wonder if now we'll start getting people who will 'buy' salvaging work from people with maxed forges...
Doubtful but meh.

If I'm understanding this right, if you are forging and salvaging your own equipment, you'll never gain any permanent forge XP?

Once you have the ultimate piece for a slot you wont salvage it and keep the EXP.

The question really is whether we'll be able to use the old salvage method if we want the exp rather than the materials. If not, then >.>

I think a good compromise would be that the Forge XP lost is equal to that of the materials and bindings recovered rather than the sum total of all the materials and bindings originally invested in forging that piece of equipment. This way, Forge XP slowly grows (and largely nueters the ability of players to rapidly grind levels like in the past) while still returning a healthy number of bindings

Uh, yea? Which is why it does just that.

New market: selling forge EXP by returning the materials of salvaged item to owner
also don't leave the suggestions thread, Tenboro! There's a ton to read!!!!! That you'll dismiss and never take to account until the problem manifests itself in a horrible and agonizing way and then you read my posts and figure out I was right after all
like player and monster PMI

My apologies. Based on the thing I just tried salvaging, I thought it reduced the Forge XP by the full amount of the source materials.

Bunker Buster: TBH, while you had a point with PMI, probably wasn't such an issue when you posted it. Too much math involved for no big difference at the time. Take a moment to compare monster lab bestiary now to a year ago.
