Or it could go Diablo 2 style and use [diablo2.diablowiki.net] Enchant style spells for mages.

I tried that with a sorc a few times, while I didn't have all the duped runeword gear my gear was still pretty good, and it still sucked..... Though it was still reasonably fun, just it was your merc that was doing most of the killing

It worked much better back in Classic, and Xpac pre 1.10.

enchant sorc was a fun build, but the best use of the skill was to level up new characters in classic d2.
enchant with raven claw bow was a riot since the fire damage was also added to the explosion and explosive arrows had 100% hit chance.

I had a enchant sorc with a harmony bow for tomb running, didnt use it for that much though.

I just had a idea: Magic proficiencies should be part of the formula for counter-resist. Currently, I get resisted by some Http monster for several turns straight, then it kicks me in the balls, protected only by cloth, and I die. I hate resist.

i was talking about classic enchantress, not lod.

i think that in lod enchant saw more use from barbarians using demon limb charges for the ar bonus then from actual sorcs.

i saw troll enchant pvp builds sometimes though.

kingslayer was bad.
ok, it makes you deal multi elemental damage with vengeance that you can boost with masteries. but doesn't change the fact that you don't aoe damage or enough attack speed to clear monsters with a decent speed.
you can't even oneshot most things like a fury barbarian can.

passion isn't any good either, i just mentioned it because it gave zeal to non paladins, but each class had its own attack speed table and even with the weapon with the best base attack speed (phase blade) your max attack speed with zeal was 3.28 attacks per second (this is nothing much if you think that paladins can reach 5.2 attacks per second with zeal). where with normal attack you could deal 2.5 attacks per second with less effort on your part because you needed less IAS to reach this point and you could use a better weapon (passion sucks).
now that i remember there was one way to make eanchant sorc pvm viable:
use beast runeword to turn into a werebear then switch to a phaseblade with 95ias (must be on the weapon, ias from other items doesn't do anything after a certain point for werebear attack speed) to deal 5 attacks per second. or a 95 ias demon crossbow, a 120 ias thresher or champion axe for 6.25 attacks per second.

All this talk about d2 makes me nestolgic to go and re-conquer the Melee pvp and hammerdin ladders.



can we haz Whirl Wind and Fury in HV plz?

or just make 1-handed/shield a viable build so I can make a max block super pmi, ultra high damage hverse build?
