I actually live in the US, I'm a Marine remember? There are those who are both of the extremes when it comes to weapons. Those who go around killing people and then the ones that won't touch weapons at all. Then there are people like Wolfgirl and I that know what we are doing and will not use them for things that they aren't needed or meant for.

I, for one, live in Russia. AFAIK Russian and Swedish gun laws are similar. So country is not the only thing that matters.

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure everyone has seen a gun in say a history museum or something. Someone in their family probably has a gun, though they may not have fired one.

Again, I understand the USA is different than Sweden so I'm not gonna argue what's right or not... I'm just saying here in Sweden maybe the two first could be justified, shooting at targets and hunting. But here in Sweden the idea of protecting oneself and loved ones with a FUCKING GUN sounds to me like some shit from outer space. One would need a big bunch of crazy asshole motherfucking batshit insane ARMED people running around if one would ever need a fucking gun to protect oneself, and I'd say probably the gun would more likely be used against oneself in some freak accident. In England they heavily restrict gun ownership. So does that mean there are no crimes? No, there are silent ones committed with knifes.

We have plenty of laws in the US. The thing is they are not enforced well enough. Thugs with felonies are not supposed to have one near them. They make a law saying that we can't have one and the law abiding are defenseless. Criminals do not obey the laws. Look at the crime rates of most major American cities. In New York City 90% of law abiding persons do not have a gun in the home. Look up the death rate from gun shots there. Then look at some of the smaller towns where the law is that every home is to have a gun at the home. Check there crime rate.

Personally I like knifes as to use it there has to be an eminent threat. I carry most times especially in the car. someone trying to reach in my car for me and the tendons in the hand will be severed. If they try to assault me it will be my last resort to block the attack and to their surprise they are bleeding.

To me it sounds like you're living in a war zone. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) In Sweden it's against the law to even carry a knife. I think in Japan it's the same thing, all kinds of weapons are forbidden.

In Korea, weapons are pretty strictly prohibited. Knives are ok if anybody carries those around but ppl will think they are weird and should stay away. Also, because men have to waste their time doing military service for two years, I dont think hardly anybody has a fancy about guns or knife.

Also, theres CCTV everywhere. You might be able to commit crime unseen, but cant escape from the place without being revealed. All the roads, public places, public transportation have autoumated camera.

Well, there are some unsighted spots, but I don't think anybody is stupid enough to pass those alley.
From what I heard, they say they arrest nearly 100% of serious crimes.
Dunno if its just among reported ones or including estimates for unreported, but thats pretty high anyway.

One of the worst thing about the country is...

they block all the foreign porn sites including this site disregarding if the user is adult or not.
I guess its about blocking ppl from seeing loli stuff, caz some bone headed policymakers thought pedos are made from watching loli.
(well, quit making stupid laws, just punish pedos harder, they need to serve more years!)
Plus, why block sites when ppl still can use torrent to get files anyway?
