Good to have a new donation mechanism in place. Now I just have to build my slush fund back up to the point I can donate again... (Vacation is going to be great, buy paying for it is going to be leaving me a bit short for the next few months...)

I decided not to donate anything since the rate is so damn expensive and the charge is also expensive to exchange The hassle to convert and sent made me cancel it out No reply too from Mr.Tenboro adds the salt to the wound ok bye (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

But just wait a while...if this catches on in HV, it could get easier to do for everyone. Also...don't let no reply from T upset you...no replies from T on donation methods is nothing personal, it is rare for him to reply on this type of topic unless he has something substantial to offer.

If you are in Europe, the exchange service I have found (and used) is rather good. [ blockchain.info] http://blockchain.info, they're clear about the fees they take on the exchange (around 5~6% in the UK), and they allow you to remain anonymous in your account. On the other hand, they still need to follow money laundry laws in europe therefore you will not be able to do big transactions. Allowing anonymous accounts and not limiting transactions would be a business very hard to run. I am still testing whether they try any kind of scam with my money, so do not blindly believe in my words above. I was planning to post about them here only when I am sure about them, but as a handful of people are struggling to make a donation I have decided to post it early. Also, a good (although not comprehensive) list of exchanges to bitcoins can be found on the [ en.bitcoin.it] bitcoin wiki. If you cannot find an exchange that you can use there move to another country. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Look for other ways to buy in. Some exchanges allow unverified members go to a branch of a specific bank and make a direct cash deposit, no questions asked. (The exchange will usually add a small processing fee, like 1-3% of the deposit amount.) Be sure that you deposit enough money to cover all fees and changes in the market, and request for a receipt. Read the exchange's instructions because some require you to add a specific amount to your deposit for verification purposes. Once you have funds in your exchange account, buy some bitcoins and transfer them to your Mt.Gox wallet (there shouldn't be any fees for this step) and donate, or ask Tenboro to make a wallet just for you that you can transfer bitcoins into instead.
Any money left over can be cashed out (again, fees) or converted into bitcoins for future use. Apparently, it's also good practice not to keep any bitcoins and money in an account at an exchange long-term, since it can go under or get compromised. You can keep a local bitcoin wallet on your computer, and then it's your responsibility not to lose it.
Just be careful about using any old exchange that you find on Google. Do your research first.

If someone sends BT to another wallet, how long does it need for the Exchange to update?

It takes on average ten minutes to generate a block, and it's normal to require six confirmations (chained blocks) before a transfer is accepted, so usually it takes about one hour. But if there are a lot of transactions pending, more than the maximum block size of 250 KB worth, it might take longer for the initial block containing your transaction to be generated. If you send to/from your own wallet, or a wallet at an exchange that allows you to track this (many do), you can follow the progress of each transaction yourself. (The Bitcoin network also has a mechanism where you can pay a small "transaction fee", a reward to the miner who generates the first block that contains your transaction, to give priority to your transaction - this is typically 0.0005 BTC, or about 1.7 cents at today's rate.)

QUOTE(aeridus @ Feb 27 2013, 20:26) Another note on the Forbes article: If the US somehow banned all sites from converting bitcoins to USD, people would still be able to do "in person" transactions for cash. There's sites like this for instance: [ localbitcoins.com] https://localbitcoins.com/Reposting so this doesn't get buried. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Granted, this probably only helps if you're near more urban areas... but it's cheaper than going through fees! Just make sure you check the ratings of people before you arrange to meet in person.

but the rate just keep changing that I can't donate the right number (100USD).
and the bank transfer fee is about 40$, that's a little too much.
hope with all those effort I can finally get a gold aura for hentai verse.

I used BitInstant to moneygram cash to Mt.Gox since it looked like the cheapest/easiest way to get my money to turn into bitcoins. I spent 154USD and got 143USD worth of bitcoins after the fees were all said and done. I can live with that A LOT easier than the ungodly bank wire fees... Now I just wait on Tenboro to get to my PM and (hopefully) activate the Gold Aura (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

If you are doing a bank transfer, I suggest doing a high value transfer, especially if your bank does a set fee.
If you are doing a smaller transfer, I suggest shopping around until you find the cheapest method to send the donation. That way, you win and tenboro wins. You send more, tenboro gets more if you get what I mean.
MtGox is probably one of the cheaper ones in terms of transferring money to bitcoins but not necessarily the cheapest for bitcoins per dollar, so watch out for that too!

Do you know anyway/how or where to transfer money at smalles fees ( at least not reaching 20% from total transfer (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) to bitcoins ? ) If possible international one, since I don't live in America (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) QUOTE(the REAL tazmanian @ Mar 7 2013, 01:01) I used BitInstant to moneygram cash to Mt.Gox since it looked like the cheapest/easiest way to get my money to turn into bitcoins. It would save time for people trying to help you, since they (or you even) could first start by doing a Google search for something like "buy bitcoins <your country>" and seeing what comes up.

If anyone's done Mt Gox verification, can you tell me how long it took for them to run through verification? I'm apparently #4000 in the queue, but I have no idea how fast they churn through them.

It took a bit over a week for me and I was at #2000 a few days in. For the first day or two, there was no queue number. They seemed to go through ~400 a day and none on the weekends.
