QUOTE(Simpleton8 @ Nov 27 2015, 03:25) I don't know much but I don't think it's hard unless you are worried about anonymity. It's not hard to setup a [ www.coinbase.com] coinbase account (hardest part to me was linking the bank account). However, if you want to be anonymous, take a look at [ localbitcoins.com] https://localbitcoins.com/ . I am not sure if any of the methods on localbitcoin is 100% anonymous except perhaps cash by mail. Any idea? QUOTE(Tenboro @ Nov 28 2015, 00:32) Bitcoin, by design, is a system of money trails. But as long as you don't go around telling people what the EH wallet address you use for Circle/Coinbase/whatever is, there's no way for them to tell what you're actually sending money to.
Besides, just because there is a chilling effect discouraging payment providers from servicing certain types of sites, that doesn't make them illegal.
As you suggested, all bitcoin transactions are public (e.g., [ blockchain.info] https://blockchain.info/ which uses CakePHP framework (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ) In my first post here, I mentioned using localbitcoins to get bitcoins. It's much more private (and pretty safe if you choose one with high number of confirmed trades).

I can't shake the feeling like there is some kind of alternative to paypal that works for porny shit. I want to donate, but this bitcoin thing is just eluding my understanding. (then again, that's probably my fault for trying this at 3 am)

If you have a debit card, I'd highly recommend Circle. They are very simple and straight-forward. But probably don't set up your account at 3 AM. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

I just made a donation today, I ended up using coinbase to purchase the bitcoins. It took about 10 days to actually get the bitcoins, but only because I didn't want to use a credit card to speed up the process. If you have a bank account it's a pretty straight-forward process, and that's coming from someone who didn't know anything about bitcoins until a few weeks ago.

I was pretty unlucky with the whole Bitcoin venture. :P I got some coins last year as it was going up, just before the price halved and stayed there until November. Then, looking like a freak spike in November with only one site reporting high prices, I spent my coins before it would fall again, but then they soared in the sky again...
I only suffered a slight loss moneywise, but it was quite annoying. :P Could've bought one month later for half the price, and held on to them one month longer to double the value.

Shouldn't take any more than an hour unless there's something going on with the block chain. I wanna say my experience has been about twenty minutes or so. It's not very long.

I want to throw in a good recommendation for using Circle. In fact, I would even recommend saying that Circle should be the go-to option for making donations.
I tried using Coinbase, but I wasn't digging having to pick between using a card (instant, but 40$ limit with a 3% deduction) or a bank transfer (much higher limit with a 1% deduction, but first requires bank verification and then requires further processing time, all measured in business days), so either way, it was going to take a while for my donation to actually happen. You also have to use a webcam to provide a picture of your ID card; the entire process is so much of a hassle that I figured that there had to be a better way.
I then gave Circle a shot, took about five minutes to set up with my debit card, allowed me to purchase money directly into the donation wallet in USD (it handled the converting, exchanging and transferring) and everything was all good after about 25 minutes with the coins in the wallet. No transfer or exchange fees with a debit card, and the daily limit is 300$ (which is certainly high enough for my purposes). Which makes sense, being that their business model is built around making to simple and easy to transfer moderate amounts of money between individuals.
So yeah, I'd definitely recommend using Circle to anyone who wants to make a donation of <300$. It's quick, simple, convenient and free for debit cards/bank transfers.

Glad to see someone else had a problem-free experience! (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) With Circle, if you have the right stuff, it's about as problem-free as it gets.

QUOTE(Ichigo-Neko @ Apr 23 2016, 21:25) maybe with a PayPal address, where you can donate of as a "gift" or something Use a proxy service if you absolutely want to use PayPal. Attempting to bypass its terms of services will freeze your account on top of charging you with a reasonable minimum of $2,500 per rule violation. Here's another recommended article.

You don't have to run any programs, just have coins sent to your E-H wallet.

A wallet is just an address that stores coins.
