Well, they've been saying that btc-e is the Russian or Bulgarian mafia for a long time already. Nobody knows for sure, of course, since nobody has a clue who's really behind it. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

i bought some with virwox with the intent to donate but i'm not sure i want to donate the amount i put in the temporary wallet you made for me automatically. if i wanted to put some of it back in the virwox wallet would you do that for me? just asking if, not requesting.
sorry if i am less than grateful for all the hentai i've consumed of yours over the years, i have some issues with embracing the stuff.

What I'd first recommend is donate everything you bought. Moving BTC around will usually accumulate fees, especially if you're using VirWoX. Plus, if you leave money sitting in a wallet, it's probably gonna lose value. If you really don't feel like donating the access, just leave it in the wallet on site. There's no disadvantage (it's probably more secure here anyways) other than the exchange rate. Moving back to VirWoX will hit you with a fee (probably) and moving it back to the wallet here will certainly be another fee.

So there is still no way to donate besides bitcoins? I remember back in 2000 I donated with a visa card but I guess that isn't doable anymore ^^; I'm just really iffy on bitcoins is the thing!

If that makes you feel any better bitcoin transactions are way better engineered than card transactions through visa. I worked for visa.
I like the new system just got hit by poor timing. Works fairly great with my broker, I deposit cash and bitcoins get deposited in the new wallet here one hour later.
The timing was bad for that hour, by the time I got to the bank their rate had gone up 7.5% and then by the time I got the coins the rate here updated and went down 5%.
Unstable? thats an understatement, I remember when they were 20 dollars for one and I was thinking I should get in on them but was like naaah they will probably crash. Well im regretting that, I guess my problem is I don't know how to get bitcoins? The OP doesn't really help, it says you can go to some site and use paypal but I only see Linden dollars and others that are not BTC. I guess I'll look into it some more and figure out a way that works!

Pricing should be irrelevant as you are only staying in BTC for a short period, and you can buy fractional BTC as well. For instance, my last donation was .035 BTC. The site you're speaking of is VirWoX...I honestly wouldn't use them. It's a bunch of steps to get BTC (USD->Linden->BTC) which hit you with fines along the way, all for the convenience of being able to use a credit card. I suggest using Coinbase. So as long as you're comfortable using direct transfers from a bank account, you're solid. Security shouldn't be an issue since they make two-step login mandatory. Plus, Coinbase usually has a slightly lower exchange rate than what I'm seeing on E-Hentai. For instance, my last donation in BTC was initially bought with ~~$500 exchange rate, and the site credited them for $630 as the exchange rate, so I made some money. Conbase's fees are also low. They do a 1% fee plus whatever your bank is gonna take. My "bank fee" is 15 cents, but my "bank" is actually a credit union, so I'm not sure if it's normally gonna be that low. Anybody else with Coinbase have an input as to the fee charged by the bank they use? The other major downside to Coinbase (at least right away) is the long buy time. It takes a full week to verify the transaction, and you are at the mercy of the exchange rates for that time. If it goes up or down, they take out the same amount in USD from your bank account. You can make or lose money that way. BUT! They have an option for instant buy (which has a daily limit mind you...but for the sake of donating, that ought to be negligible). What you need to do is verify a credit card (Visa only at the moment) add a billing address, and do "Complete Identity Verification" where it asks for some basic demographic info (Name, DOB, Address, Last 4 # of SS) and then gives you a questionaire to determine if you really are this person. Once all these are done and verified, you are free to buy BTC instantly without any increase in fees!

When it was written I didn't really know the exchanges very well. At some point I'll get around to update it, but basically, for exchanges:
If you live in the US, you probably want to use [coinbase.com] Coinbase.
If not, or as alternatives, use [www.bitstamp.net] Bitstamp or [btc-e.com] BTC-e.
For smaller amounts you can also hit up a trade on [localbitcoins.com] LocalBitcoins - these are effectively trades between individuals, so payment options will vary.
Edit: Updated OP. That only took like two hours to write out..
Is mtgox really going to die? They relocated their main office address to a building known to host virtual offices... eg fronts?
Dunno. Probably. Fiat withdrawals to most of the world has been unavailable for more than half a year. And rumor has it they pissed away a lot of BTC by failing to take transaction malleability into account, even though it's been a known thing for years. Even if they ever turn BTC back on, they have thoroughly demonstrated how utterly incompetent they are, and unlike that time they were hacked back in 2011, there are now much better exchanges available.
Cool, thanks for the updated OP! Turns out I have a friend that uses bitcoins all the time to order drugs from silkroad who's going to help me set up a wallet and exchange some coins. Gonna get my silver star :3
Thank goodness for alternatives, given bitcoin's recent snafu, I was worried that we might have to go down the old 'postal order' route of the 1950's to 1980's. Hope to acquire some further capital in order to fund this locale.
In light of recent news reports and the potential repercussions on MtGox's operations and the market, a decision was taken to close all transactions for the time being in order to protect the site and our users. We will be closely monitoring the situation and will react accordingly.
Best regards, MtGox Team
Site = closed completely Office = relocated to a front Trading = completely halted
So many speculators burnt. Bitcoin value crashed then recovered on speculation of mtgox death lol.
