QUOTE(7331 @ Jan 12 2014, 18:31) Yes, indeed, I did send it around 2 days ago. If that is the case, then I will just wait. Thanks for the response. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Just don't sweat it bro, your dilemma lies with Tenboro which is nothing any of us can really effect. He's probably hard at work pushing HTTPS forum updates or something like that from what I can guess. If you don't get compensated/a reply in a relative maximum of 1.5 weeks pop him another message. Otherwise keep on as you were, and rest assured that you have made the free-loaders of us infinitely happier for keeping the site up and running. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I don't generally read PMs during the weekend unless something looks super important, but I'll try to get to it today.

Well, I really like Coinbase now! Just got my identity verified. Now, I can instantly purchase Bitcoins. Oh, and the fees...there's the Coinbase fee at one percent, and the bank fee which is a flat rate of around ten cents.

Physical bitcoins, eh. More like bitcoin giftcards with the shape of a coin, given how the system works. QUOTE [ www.casascius.com] Physical Bitcoins by CasasciusAs of Nov 27, 2013, I suspended sales of items that contain digital bitcoins. Current items for sale do not contain bitcoins. If you are speaking of those, it looks like they were turned into simple souvenir medals. On another note, here is an interesting article regarding Bitcoin: [ dealbook.nytimes.com] Why Bitcoin matters, by Marc AndreessenBitcoin seems really great in light of the article, I can understand all the hype around it.

In other news, one of our server hosts have started accepting Bitcoins directly. Now if only the other two follow, we won't have to deal with banks or PayPal or any of that shit anymore.

[ www.casascius.com] Same article: QUOTE To recover the digital bitcoins, there are several ways to convert the embedded code back into a digital bitcoin so it can be spent over the internet. ... Read the rest for more info. The coins sold before that date shall have valid codes, and there's no way of making a bitcoin invalid.

Only those purchased after that date (sorry if my statement wasn't clear). But he probably sells them much cheaper now since they don't have any bitcoin on them anymore. Anyway, physical bitcoins don't make much sense.

Tenboro, do you know some site that let you create a bitcoin account you can feed with a paypal or direct CC payment??
I wanted to donate 100$, but when mtbox started asking for my photo ID and proof of residence to create a bitcoin account, I decided it was too much of a hassle.
You're probably missing quite a few donations with this bitcoin-only stuff.

Those basically don't exist, because it's too risky for the seller. Bitcoin transactions are non-reversible, so if the PayPal or CC transaction is disputed/charged back, the seller would be screwed. Well, I suppose there's VirWoX, but going USD to SLL to BTC and then withdrawing, as some people do, incurs a bunch of transaction fees. Edit: Depending on where in the world you are, there may be some other way that are less convoluted than going through all the AML/KYC hassle at MtGox. Coinbase. I cannot stress this site's user-friendliness enough. They do need a back account linked, but if it makes you feel any better, they also use two-step verification. For those of you (as this message is not just targeted at Shadowsword) that don't know what that is, it's basically using a cell phone as a method of logging in. The site sends a text to your cell with a code and then you enter that code as you're logging in. I believe this is actually a requirement for purchasing Bitcoins through them. Their fees are very low too. They charge a 1% fee and your bank will also charge a fee (mine is a constant 15 cents, but my bank is really a credit union, so...). Yes, there is VirWoX, but that hits you with a bunch of fees (those credit card fees through VirWoX are pretty steep) and involves several steps. Coinbase is a single step. Granted, they do take a full week to get Bitcoins, but they do offer instant buy if you can verify your identity and add a credit card (Visa only, and no, you can't use this to buy BTC directly) and billing address. The ID verify is rather fickle and may not work for the first try. Still, they are much more user-friendly than MtGox. Oh, and about MtGox...assuming you are going to use a bank account for Bitcoins, and I'm gonna assume you are since you're trying to get your identity verified with them, as the other methods of getting BTC to a MtGox account doesn't require ID verification but is just as much of a pain in the ass (unless you are used to using services like Money Gram)...anyways, the only way to get a bank transfer to MtGox is through a money wiring, which is not only a complicated process, but your bank will more than likely hit you with a shit-ton of fees for an international wiring (or domestic in the off chance you happen to live in Japan). For instance, my credit union charges a $50 international wiring fee. Hell no. So...unless you have your ways of using MtGox and like headaches or know how to use the other services that can link to MtGox, go with Coinbase. It's just so much simpler...

Update on MtGox. Decided to log in again and see how my unused account was doing, and I came across a message indicating that their international wire transfers take 10 business days to process (so basically two weeks). If this doesn't steer you elsewhere, I don't know what will...
Not to say MtGox is bad, but if you aren't used to jumping through all these hoops and have no interest to start, then I really recommend Coinbase.
