Jacksy the problem you faced with MtGox was that you needed account confirmation (verification) (or at least, that was in my case, because the problem you describe is the same as mine.)

Verification is needed even for bitcoin only transactions? no fiat money involved... I don't know but i just now transferred the bitcoin from mtgox out to my bitcoin-qt wallet without issue. And 5 secs later bitcoin-qt its showing as incoming.

QUOTE(jacksy @ Sep 30 2013, 11:07) I has bitcoins sittin in a wallet, but can't send them...cause my pm for an address's not getting answered! Anyone pm ten recently know how long its took?
Also if anyone knows if i donate wallet to wallet does it still add 10% to the donated amount? or is it only if i go through mtgox?
Tenboro gets hundreds of msgs each day, so far for me, it usually has taken a couple of days to get a response, which is pretty good considering. I believe you get the +10% regardless as the weighted average is used to calculate the amount received.

[ bitcoin.clarkmoody.com] Kinda volatile right now, but it's regained quite a bit at this time. Then again, who didn't see that one coming after the Freedom Hosting crackdown?

Then again, who didn't see that one coming after the Freedom Hosting crackdown? Hehehehehe... yeah, bitcoin spikes like that... The last spike ended with a plummet to $77 per coin and that's back when I bought 3.5 BTC through Over The Counter (Peer to peer) trading when it just started to go back up from $77, then I sold it when they were at $120. (I made some monies then!) This post has been edited by The Evil Phoenix: Oct 2 2013, 20:53

Took them long enough to snipe that bastard, you wouldn't BELIEVE how many people were trying to get people to buy them stuff on SR on the bitcoin IRC channels... I think I had to ban about 150 people over the course of two months because of SR...

Well, I just downloaded the client and I truthfully have no clue what I'm doing. Is there a reputable bitcoin dealer I should go through to purchase these, I live in the US. I know I tried about 2 years ago to help out with the adopt a server program, but I was not able to sign up for alertpay in my state, so I could not proceed at that time. Any help would be extremely appreciated, thanks. I would also like to try out the hentai @ home thing, but I only have an average upload of 1.09 Mbps, so I'm a little confused there. faq's say 1, but the application says 3. If 1 is the correct answer let me know and I'll set it up (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) This post has been edited by john18111: Nov 1 2013, 07:06

john18111, there's a great deal of bitcoin traders here: QUOTE(Super_Mew @ Jun 8 2013, 23:32) Also, in the thread there are metions of localbitcoins, coinbase and virvox. On the H@H side, I guess 1.09 Mb upload is too low to have a useful client.

Is it better to use mtgox or a direct donation if I am getting the bitcoin from a different website (ie. transaction fees and such). Also how would I get to see how many bitcoin I need to get a certain value (as I am buying in a different currency from usd)?

If you're already getting BitCoins from some place other than MtGox, I think direct transfer should be better. Should save a little on transaction fees, but i can't be sure. Maybe someone else more familiar with BTC could advice you better. I imagine transferring from your purchase site to MtGox then donating is like transferring money from your bank, to another bank, then asking that bank to transfer the money instead of you transferring the money from your own bank.
Keep in mind though, that direct donation requires that you PM Tenboro, await his reply, then start the transfer which means it takes a bit of time.
How much BitCoins you need to get depends on how much you're intending to donate in USD, and the market value of BTC at that point in time.
Let's say you want to donate 100 USD. Using the link Tenboro provided above, you'll need to buy ~0.47 BTC at this particular point in time. However, maybe the cost of BTC increases later, then you'll probably need to buy less, maybe ~0.44.Monitor the graph, and visit MtGox's page for an average, and make your own judgement on how much BTC you need to buy. Also remember to factor in your own currency fluctuations against the USD.
There's a 10% value buffer, but it's always safer to buy just a little bit more than what you're intending to donate.

Is there a good place in europe to buy bitcoins, specifically France ? Mt.Gox seems to have rather prohibitive fees for internationals transfers and Coinbase is only accessible to US.

QUOTE(Nalea @ Nov 6 2013, 19:19) specifically France ? I love [ blockchain.info] blockchain which have easy connections with the barclays bank in the UK. Just a ferry/eurotunel/eurostar trip from French territory. Given that you do not argue that England is part of Normandy you shall be fine on the other side of the channel.

Not possible. Paypal used to be an option a long time ago, but since they frown on porn stuff, it had to stop once the site grew larger. Same applies for most other CC based transaction services, I believe. You can probably find lots of posts about it if you do a search.

Tenb quickly running out of time with providing BTC wallet address. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Less than 24h until X-Rebirth is out. Predicting that I will forget about HV for quite some time. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) -------- My advice to all concerned about donating.PM Tenboro. Wait for wallet address and save yourselves from mt.gox incompetence and intrusive authorization requirements. Was reading yesterday they have backlog on BTC transactions both ways. FFS, transferring BTC is backlog free everywhere in the world of BTC, except gox of course. Guys at BTC-E or Bitcurex probably laughing theirs asses off. IMHO Tenboro should connect EHG donating to BTC-E. @Nalea - try [ btc-e.com] BTC-E. Russians never ask any/too many questions. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) Deposits are possible in USD/EUR/RUR or number of various other cryptocurrencies.

Some sites do have their own CC processors. I don't know how they did that, but at least, I don't see any third party payment processors.
