My limit is going to be $25-$30 always.
Yup, it is a very good limit when the legitimacy is questionable. Quoting it just to reinforce the point.

Just read on my local newspaper that Thailand just declared BitCoin illegal. Didn't go into details, but it says that it is now illegal to trade, move them in or out of the country, or use them to buy or sell goods or services.

Hope that's not the start of BitCoin's end.

America has already started regulating the exchanges and reviewing legislation and taxation laws for Bitcoins. Either Thailand can't be bother or the majority of the bitcoins were being used for nefarious enterprises. Oh its pretty boring actually

"However, the central bank did not ban Bitcoin outright. Instead it issued a preliminary ruling that using bitcoins as described was illegal because of a lack of existing laws that dealt with the relatively new realm of anonymous, cryptographically protected digital currencies."

Huh, interesting read. The article i had was just a small one, maybe about 200 words, so it was pretty lacking on detail.

Doubt anyone has done this lately, but has anyone used Coinbase and transferred BitCoins to a wallet like Bitcoin-Qt? The transaction has showed as Pending on Coinbase for over twelve hours now, and I'm not seeing any indication on Bitcoin-Qt that it's getting the money...could be just taking a while on the network, but my last few transfers haven't taken this long...

EDIT: Nevermind, Coinbase was having issues...plus, I realized I can donate directly from that site, so no need to transfer it to a wallet anymore.

I'm still using Virwox. Appears completely legitimate at this point from my experience. Deposits/Withdrawals pretty much happen instantly now. I no longer have to wait at all when using their service anymore. Guess it's because i've used them three times now. The first time I did it, took nearly two days for my bitcoins to process, but not anymore.

Once I make my deposit using Paypal, convert it to bitcoins, and transfer it to my bitcoin wallet, The coins are there immediately. i can basically donate within a time-frame of no more than like 15 minutes. No more processing for hours and days at a time.

Again, for anyone finding stuff like Mt. Gox and other sites confusing, and would rather not have to deal with stuff like bank transfers to get bitcoins, They can be bought from Virwox easily & quickly using Paypal. Review Post #377 for information on how to do it.

Can't stress enough how satisfied I am. Only thing I still don't like to much is the transaction fees. If i want to donate 25 bucks, I need to deposit 28 to Virwox due to the fees. It's a bit much, but I can live with it since it let's me use Paypal. anyways, good luck to everyone. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Not really new information, but PayPal will terminate your PayPal account if you use VirWox or any other currency exchange that accepts Bitcoins. They will freeze your account and take your funds.

@Tenboro, perhaps you should remove the part about PayPal, because PayPal's been cracking down on transactions even related to cryptocurrencies a lot recently...

Yeah, I'm thinking my account is frozen now...but I believe it can be undone via identity verification (same crap Mt. Gox has you do...)

Doesn't really matter for me since I usually use a credit card when going through PayPal anyways.

Haven't heard of people having issues, but nowadays, PayPal will limit your account and ask for identity documentations for absolutely nothing. Depending on how much money tends to flow through it, in some cases the amount of documentation they demand is [www.mailpile.is] rather staggering.

I strongly recommend against using PayPal for anything, ever, as they are quite literally the scum of the earth. But the VirWox option is for people who really really really want to do so anyway.

PayPal's fine if all one does is provide services that are legal, like me when I provide both remote and on-site computer support and repair, but... bitcoin stuff, if they even suspect it you get frozen.

SO. LISTEN TO TENBORO! DO NOT USE PAYPAL.

@Tenboro: They almost froze my account for using bitcoins, but I showed them all I was doing was running a bitcoin node, the payment I got was a donation to keep the server running. Close call, but they didn't freeze my account because of those circumstances. People I"ve actually done bitcoin trades with, though, they've had their paypals frozen. because trading bitcoins on localbitcoins.

If the amount you're struggling with is already in bitcoins you can always setup a bitcoin client on your PC and transfer through it. But if you are still trying to change "lawful" (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) currency into bitcoins that's another story.

(I never used Mt. Gox)

^ Yeah I've done the first thing. I was using Mt. Gox because it seemed easy, but it turned out to be a huge hassle. I actually had it transferred to Mt. Gox, and then again back to my wallet. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Lost 0,0006 bitcoin. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif) (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Yay, I successfully spend money!
This was kind of the hardest way I every donated something...

first I went to your donation-form which sent me to Mt. Gox.
No account, no problem, just creating one... ok, so how do I get bitcoins...
Search a little before finding virwox. created another account.
Now I needed some SLL or what's it called there... and always those courses how much value anything at the moment has...
Well, I already had a paypal-account, so EUR to virwox, in virwox EUR to SLL (felt like a few digits too much) and from SLL to BC... (felt like a few digits to few)...
Now I was already able to send my BC to Mt. Gox... Well, if I would know how... I scanned some FAQ-pages to see that Mt. Gox had a funding section where a wallet key is generated which is my actuall BitCoin-Address...
So, that copy-past to virwox and then... waiting. Well... new virwox account, so please wait for validation... 2 days later I got my BC on on Mt Gox.
Finally I could go to the donation-site, insert the value again and pay the money... or so I thought.
Because now when I chose Mt Gox Api I was told to send the money to another BitCoun-Adress so it would be paid from there after enough has come together... and to pay me back any value-differences that would be caused by BC-value-fluctuations...
So, I went again to my Mt Gox Main site, searched how I could transfer money to another wallet and payed additionally 0.005 BC, so it wouldn't be days for me to wait for the transfer (said so on the site).
Well, I also needed to put in my password around 5 time in the MtGox-Api-window before there was some meaningful message...
And really, half an hour later the money was suddenly on e-hentai.org! Well, it needed to validated first after that, but only a few minutes later it was completely registered!

Now I have around 42SLL and 0.01BC on some sites I will probably never use again^^

Well, I really to give some donation for the great site and I was finally able to get enough Hath by selling the C...
I have a daily changing IP, so no server-support from me^^
But I really love these Hath perks!

But couldn't you just use something faster? Like giving a post-address and recieving a letter with money in? Or SEPA-Transactions... or even Paypal... or credit card... I even got a prepaid-(no dispo)-credit card without fees just to pay people in apparantly isolated countries like the USA or England...

-Mail would be a pain in the ass for Tenboro and people trying to donate, even if you ignore the international issue.
-I'm not that familiar with SEPA (I just wikipedia'd it), but I doubt Tenboro would want to give out his banking information to strangers on a porn site...
-Paypal's terms of services prohibit it from being used for porn and people aren't smart enough to keep their mouth's shut, so it kept getting shut down.
-There are a lot of hoops to jump through for a merchant to be able to accept credit cards. I doubt Tenboro would want to deal with them, and I'm not sure he could even get them to accept it considering this site is in a legal gray area.

So I just supported an almost illegal site?
Does that make me an almost-criminal?

Maybe I should have visited personally, dressed in a black suit with a big black hat and sunglasses and should have given you a briefcase with the money in it...

Still I think this kind of money-transfer needs some work^^

Have you ever heard of copyrights? This site operates using the Youtube defense where Tenboro does not control the content uploaded and thus should not be liable for users violating copyright laws. I'm not sure why that hasn't worked for file uploading sites that have been shut, but that's not particularly relevant.

What is relevant is the combination of the content of this site (porn) and the legal gray area under which this site operates is frowned upon by the more "convenient" forms of transferring money. Bitcoins might be inconvenient, but they also don't care by who or for what they are being used. That means no closed accounts, reversed payments, and other pains in the ass.
