I tried to go to Mt.Gox and create an account, only to find out that I can't directly fund that account.

Mt. Gox does have bank transfer options. Unless they aren't available in your region?

Seems to be mtgox's problem.

They've been taking some DDoSing lately. Usually doesn't last very long.

Note that in order to account for transaction costs and fluctuations in BTC value, I'll be using the Mt.Gox weighted average and add 10% to the final donation amount. (If you still miss a donation tier, it probably means you tried to take advantage of this safely margin.)

You can also transfer Bitcoins to me directly. PM me for this, and I'll create a wallet Just For You to make sure it gets correctly credited. This is completely independent of any third party, so while it is manual, it has the advantage of being impossible to shut down.

DHS froze their Dwolla account. Big difference. Mt.Gox is quite alive.

Most transactions shall pay a transaction fee of 0.0005 bitcoins and be above 0.001 BTC (I think that's the current minimum). You shall be able to donate 0.007 BTC (almost a full dolar). Or you might try a "frugal" transaction (a transaction that do not pay transaction fess), but it might take days to complete a frugal transfer.

Now more realitically, I believe that you loaded your wallet with more than $1 worth of BTC. The coins might be still transfering.

I think that each time you donate you'll always be brought to that screen. It's kind of like the 'checkout' section of online stores, i believe. you probably won't have to go through the authentication again though.

If you used the Mt.Gox option it should be instant-ish. If it didn't credit you, you should probably PM me.
