If anyone is using GUIminer, can tell me if it works? After 6 hours of running, it' still trying to "connect".

Hi there!

I can say for sure that mine is currently working fine and going at 300Mhash/s
It is also linked up to the Slush pool for faster crediting.

Now if only Tenboro would reply to my PM's then I would be good and set!
Getting that wallet address and the extra H@H client slots would work wonders...

Host address & port number is correct. I made an account at BitcoinCZ & MtGox. I've entered my wallet address. So what could be the problem? Limited bandwidth (512kbps)? Google DNS? Need to do Port Forwarding? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

"Nothing to mine on, exiting" - what does that even mean?

The wallet address doesn't really come into play until after you've gotten enough coins for a payout (default 1 BTC, configurable down to 0.05 BTC).

I'm guessing the error means you haven't chosen a miner that can run on your hardware . You need to choose OpenCL for AMD/ATI cards, CG for older ATI, CUDA for Nvidia or that CPU miner if you have neither - but like I said, CPU mining probably won't yield much. You also have to choose the right device from the drop-down box...

So if you want to mine on a GPU.. make sure to actually select that GPU from Device.

It was said in the website that it can takes full 24 painful hours to connect initially, but subsequent connection will be a hush.

That's for the Bitcoin client itself, which (to put it somewhat simplified) actually holds your Bitcoins.

GUIMiner doesn't require a client nor an up-to-date block chain as long as you use a pool. However, if you are solo mining, you will need a fully up to date Bitcoin-qt client to hook it up to.

I am still trying to find a way to do this and it is boggling my mind. So once my blocks update for a first-time sync with the Bitcoin wallet, should I expect a list of sources from which I can exchange USD for Bitcoins?
Afterwards, is there an address I can use to send an amount directly to E-H?

Wallet just holds your bitcoins. GUI miner is you working for coins. You exchange bitcoins for USD or whatever at an exchange such as mtgox. Exchanges let you buy and sell bitcoins for real world currency.

Have you made any further progress?

I'm about half way to 0.1 bitcoin. long and painful road but worth it (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I suggest you start your GUIMiner with whatever group you wish to join simply for the fact that it takes time to make coins. so get a head start while the wallet syncs with the collective. (side note for the bitcoin Wallet to build it will require a vast amount of CPU but fear not for it only has to bear with it till the sync is done)
