My first instant death (and not the last either). Playing on IWBTH, enemies now can attack right after my first action (even Haste). Before this abomination of an update, I could cast 5 supportive spells before anyone attacked me (Haste, Spark, Spirit Shield, Shadow Veil, and Arcane Focus). Now, I guess I'll have to cast Spark first. If there are four or more monsters in a mob they can kill you instantly if you cast any other spell. So, to review:
Faster monsters, slower players, instant kill capabilities from the start (from mobs), and Regen that activates 60% of the time (which is ridiculous). Oh yeah, Haste is cut in half, yet costs the same amount. I wonder if it is even worth it to cast anymore.

Well, here are my initial impressions as heavy melee:
- My mace is now >>> my estoc. The extra survivability from stuns outweighs any PA/damage my estoc brings because of all the extra curing I have to do with the estoc, eating through my mana pots. I only keep my estoc to do IA for my mace on hell difficulty.
- I can still do FSM on IWBTH with my dual wield setup (axe+rapier). Nothing changed here that I could notice considering how the battle flows.
- BT arenas are still doable, with with my mace now instead of estoc. Never been able to do arenas on IWBTH with anything before, and that hasn't changed now.
- The new speed mechanics screws up my timing on buffs. This is good and bad. I can charge up OC between skills now with more time. This makes the skills hit harder, but occasionally messes up the timing of when the cooldown expires.
- Given the new speed attribute chaos tokens can be invested in, this could be rough in the future.
- I've always been annoyed when a monster can chain parry/resist/evade attacks. It is a result of RNG, but it's still the most aggravating part of HV. And now it's worse with the new speed system. I would love to see some sort of change that nerfs this particular aspect of battle.

OK looks like Forum working now. I hate evenings/nights, always breaking down on my end. Anyway... I had nice post prepared yesterday, but after half hour of attempts to post it I just give up and went back to playing War In The East (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) First of all +5 to all what Mantra64 and JC said, I also like that idea for a button from piyin - good one. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Now to the point. With all melee players voicing their concerns/disgust/dread with recent patch, I'm frankly scared to death what we may expect in 0.75 for mages. Predictions: 1. Anthrax Mana (drain 250 pts of Mana/turn) 2. Radioactive Staff (drain 350 pts of Health/turn) 3. Monsters get NUKE ability to pierce through Spark of Life and drain Spirit completely after first strike 4. All spells doing negative damage and hurt player instead monsters 5. Cloth Armor infected with bubonic plague (player get max Poison damage since round 1) 6. Arcanist armor will increase mag hit chance/crit only for monsters 7. Monsters get 4th bar - JIHAD skill - when charged fully = player insta-death 8. Mystic Gem will quadruple monster damage OK, enough of sarcasm (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Considering that I figured out that melee is road to nowhere I just stopped using it a while back, but nerf mages any further (which will be inevitable after 0.75), to the point of uselessness -like Heavy Armor- and I will definitively stop. Recent 5-7 patches brought me very close to a point where I say: enough is enough. This game was really fun to play like 10 patches back. Now every "improvement" alienating more and more, and even more people. You Anglo-Saxons have a saying: If it ain't broken - don't fix it. It really does sum up everything perfectly.

Yeah, played a bit more as a Scythe HA (I don't even dare use magic now with the new system). Supportive spells GENERALLY got a huge buff in time. Depreciating spells however.... Seem to die off much faster than before. Not sure if a bug or what, but before I could get through most of the mobs before silence and weaken wore off in a 10 mob RE. Now, I barely kill three mobs and the weaken is already gone-even in a 7 mob RE. Regen really needs to be changed for this patch though. You really destroyed regen and regen 2. At this point, I'm having to double cure or use cure 2 and there is almost no reason to use regen 2. Also, I don't think it is that light armor got a buff. I think it is that light armor was hurt the least by the patch. I've said it before: Whatever I rely on gets nerfed each patch (Watch me get an offer of a few million credits to use a very specific playstyle that won't harm anyone else and watch that get nerfed). I switched from mage to melee after the mage nerfing last patch and now HA melee gets massively nerfed. And this time, I don't have the credits to change my build (I'm completely out of emergency RoBs). Right now, the Karma attacks are even more dangerous for me than ever since I NEED SoL to work. I don't even dare do anything but RE anymore since I don't know when the next Karma attack wave is going to hit. And with the Potion nerf, Karma attacks are also more dangerous since if my base SP jumps, it will take even longer to recover. Yeah, but... which supportive spell still works the way it should? Haste? Nerfed. Protection? Nerfed. Shadow Veil? Massive nerf if you're Heavy. Spirit Shield? Worthless now, because monsters are chipping at JUST under 25% with BASIC attacks. Only SoL is working as it did before, and it's working overtime. Probably this is only because it was an half complete update. Once the Mage change is done an average stick can bring us back up to the same speed or make us a little faster if it has a good Prof Roll and is forged. Even more speed possible if you sacrifice a piece of Phase. Or at least I hope so (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Now taking away Burden reduction from Heavy prof, which makes Heavy prof practically useless. And now, he's taken away our speed by nerfing AGI. Which is fine, if you like that sort of thing. But I don't swing that way. Mind you, no doubt the mages think he's been ripping them new ones as well. I got into the game because I wanted to earn credits for doggie bagging. Beyond that, I got sucked in because I liked the game mechanics. Right now? Right now, I could stop playing... forever, and have enough credits to last me a good long while. Taking away the B/I reduction from the titles - without replacing it with equivalent bonus. Increasing base B/I, which impacts Heavy more than anything else. Now taking away Burden reduction from Heavy prof, which makes Heavy prof practically useless. And now, he's taken away our speed by nerfing AGI. Which is fine, if you like that sort of thing. But I don't swing that way. Mind you, no doubt the mages think he's been ripping them new ones as well. I got into the game because I wanted to earn credits for doggie bagging. Beyond that, I got sucked in because I liked the game mechanics. Right now? Right now, I could stop playing... forever, and have enough credits to last me a good long while. So yeah, if that's how it is, that's how it is. I can always make work a higher priority... (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Well want to hear something interesting? In the past years my mage power went from 'can almost oneshot everything on the highest setting' to can play on normal at a slower speed than I used to play on Nintendo (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) Tenb likes to screw us over. If you cant handle it you better start playing Diablo 3 or any other casual friendly game.

Potion based mages probably are seeing very little difference (not that a potion based mage would last long in GF or IW). This patch did give mages quite a few buffs but those buffs are also nerfs dependingly. (High mit players felt a nerf, low mit players felt a buff from protection as an example). Haste got nerfed but at the same time, it became much more important. Shadow veil is probably a joke now for HA players due to the burden based nerf. For those of us that relied on high agility, this patch really killed our builds. HA as I mentioned got hit the hardest due to the removal of action speed and the fact that the burden makes the other effects of agility almost null. It is pretty much better to just put agility as a stat to pump up on the side only when it costs much more to pump other stats like dexterity. And of course the catgirls and gold stars just think everyone else is simply complaining for no reason. You all get huge buffs, of course these patches won't hurt you as much as the others. can we at least have the action counter end after each round so that we can get 1 turn of healing after we finish each round. Going into a new round without any healing from regen SUCKS!.

Gives me much more time to do productive stuff. Useful stuff. Edifying stuff. You know, like working, sleeping, reading the Bible. Yeah. I understand that grass is growing half again as fast in Melbourne, due to the weather. That's interesting, real interesting. I'd like to see that for myself.
