Usually it comes off as such when you put it in the end of a sentence, the more innocent way of saying it is deary (or dearie), but even then it comes across as sarcastic or belittling if used in sentences that correct others.

Obviously it's all a matter of presenting oneself. I've heard a lot of unflattering things about you especially from your own words so it seems to put a damper on your self esteem.
