I've been maging for the last few days and it is now better than melee in every respect.
Mage was already better than melee for:
-Quantity of artefacts/equipment/item drops per minute
-EXP per minute
-Doing daily arenas in the shortest time possible
The only benefit melee had was survivability, which was useful for staying on the high crystal multiplier. That one benefit has now been lost following the changes to shards and physical mitigation, and melee is now worse for crystals per minute. Melee has no redeeming features whatsoever.
Tenboro knew that mage was better, and he's repeatedly posted how there are more mages than all other styles combined, so why he's decided to nerf melee so severely is beyond me. It makes absolutely no sense, but I suppose that's par for the course.
Anyway, I'm looking to
rent a Heimdall set for 200K per day in the longer term.
I'll sell my melee equipment to pay the rental fee since it's now not much use. I just hope I can get at least half what I invested in it.
Mages are worse than melees in many respects:
- Quality of equipment drops. As a mage, you'll never see a decent drop outside of arenas, unless you want to forgo your "advantage"
- Who gives a shit about exp/minute?
- Daily arenas in the shortest amount of time possible, eh? I'm pretty sure that with the same price, I can get a set of power/plate/shield and blast my way through BT, while with maging I'll be stuck on heroic.
As for crystals/min, well you can't expect melees to get everything, right? I mean, with the recent change to crysfest/grindfest, melees already have a huge advantage, and that being having the ability to go far in a high difficulty. Have you ever seen a mage go for more than 1000 rounds in a difficulty higher than normal? Before this patch?
Meanwhile, I have seen 4EverLost in his turtle plates going for over 1000 rounds on IWBTH. I'm sure that he'll now go for 800 rounds instead.
And mage was better before this patch? WTF are you talking about? I have not seen 1 person saying mage was better before this patch. Except for Hito, but that was 3 patches ago.
And nerf melee severely? Where? The PMI changes hurt mages as well, remember?
As for melees having no redeeming qualities, I can think of a few:
- The ability to still go far in high difficulties. Mages will not be able to do this.
- The ability to gain decent drops due to high difficulties. Mages will not be able to do this.
- The cost of getting a decent set of melee items versus maging items. To be able to clear arenas in BT, it costed me over 20 million in investment into mage gear (not including my staff). To be able to BT now as a melee, I'm certain it'll not cost over 5 million, and that's including the weapon.
- Feathers are still useless for mages.
- Infusions are now completely useless for mages.
- Out of all of the prefixes, only 1 really matters to a mage. For a melee, now you can use pretty much any prefix.
- Elemental strike is still useless for mages.
- Skills are actually worth using for melees.
- Much easier style of play melee-wise.
What difficulty did you mage at? If you say normal please GTFO (IMG:[
