I certainly could do the 190 arena on BT without ET when I tried - but I won't be doing it again. Too time-consuming. Ditto for IWBTH, but I'd certainly need ET. Focuses? I thought you were talking about maging, melees use focus. Well, usually. Doing Legendary IW does offer far more of a challenge, I'd rather have staff with econ 5 ready - but this would be about equips then. 1 mob to ET and burn soul off every round isn't that much of a threat, just time-consuming. I'm not even going to try because I don't have the speed nor patience nor skill to chain my spells quickly enough.

For some reason, you're set on doing IWBTH IW as a mage. Why, I cannot figure out.

As for action speed, I distinctly recall high levels anguishing over getting triple-tapped when spellcasting - they have action speed capped, which benefits them as they'd otherwise get quintuple-tapped, so they get weaker. I get single-tapped - I can even eke in a T1 with swiftness scroll.

High levels do have the advantage of money. But I did better when I had all superior- equips than now when I have all mag+ equips. Forging helps this too. They get stronger in spite of levelup, not because of.

if you think is the euips make the strength difference, you can borrow the better ones, then you will find you still can not achieve those challeges

speed caped mages get multi-hit because they use slow spell and they are way too high from speed cap level (around lv270)

i've saw a mage did trio & tree with 0 econ staff, which result me to believe no matter how good my equips are, without scrolls(caped speed) i can never beat it

Yes, you understood my point with speed....So I'm unsure why do you use it alongside an argument to claim higher mages are stronger just by level.

Very well, I'll consider testing that one time. It is just that my own experience has shown me getting weaker despite improving my equips.

not just by level, but level is precondition（level limit the action speed, prof ---- regen points, buff duration, mana points）

Holy and elementals have two differents problems.

Holy got weaker recently due to new holy resistant monsters also when damage to players increase dark debuff is better. That's a problem with monster lab being exploited to give an advantage for a certain kind of magic, i remember a time when there was a lot of dark resistant monsters and no high level mechs, celestians.

Elemental mage have a problem in the cycle of their spells which makes them less competitive on high difficulties setting plus they are slower in schoolgirl arenas, this makes forging elemental gear less profitable which makes the gap between holy/dark and elemental even bigger.

Meh, maybe I've been doing it wrong all this time, but as an elemental mage, I don't cycle. I just cast T1 and T3 spells from my boosted element, which takes care of most enemies, and then I just clean up the stragglers. I don't find explode damage or random -25 resistance enough to justify casting spells from other elements. The main problem elemental mages face is that many monster types are easily made highly resistant to elemental magic, if they aren't already by default. Things are then made worse when you factor in problems that all mages face, like resists, and low PMI.

I do cycle, partially. Fimbulvetr, another Fimbulvetr or a Cyclone depending on what's more likely to kill more enemies (Cyclone is attractive because I almost never get tapped for throwing T1 after T3, but my Hell lineup doesn't include PL 1000 nasties). Thunderstorm or Meteor to clean up Mech/Undead stragglers respectively, but it's Fimbulvetr and the Cold explosions that do the heavy lifting.

Cycling doesn't work as well when they start resisting often though (out of sync procs). For IWBTH REs I'll just Imperil problem critters and spam Cold. But on Arenas I'm not really cycling, more targeting weak points to pick off stragglers (the high Elec EDB on the staff doesn't hurt there either).

Yeah, I do something like that too. More precisely, I will either

1) T1 wind -> T3 wind as necessary-> clean up stragglers with Magic Missile or with T1 spells targeting weaknesses;

2) Imperil as necessary -> T3 wind as necessary -> clean up stragglers with Magic Missile or with T1 spells targeting weaknesses;

I will never do something like wind -> lightning -> fire -> cold -> wind, which is the impression I get when I see people mention elemental cycling.
