Well, this is nice as a replacement for the icons we already have. However, as far as help bridging the language barrier I'll remain skeptical.

Same, there are people who still barely recognize ponies in the maze, even with the chart right up there I doubt they could even bother to recognize what info these icons associate to

i don't think replacing everything with icons the way to go. IMO, using icons just for status procs, items type, block/parry/critical would be the best way to go.
on the same note, i second using crosshair for accuracy =)

My only suggestion would be to add an icon to gem drops in battle. It would be nice to know that a health gem just dropped so I don't have to use mana on Cure or Cure II only to realize it too late, for example.

Well, I don't want to sound rude, but A blue ugly face means that this weapon drains mana. Two crossed swords means that it can parry. A hammer means that it makes you stronger. A guitar means that it improves dexterity. A cracked crystal ball means that it lowers magical crit chance and makes your spells cost more. There are simply too many effects to remember what icon matches what. Furthermore, I don't see how it helps non-english people to understand what's going on. One can put "siphon" in the translator, but I don't think that you can tell that guitar helps you with accuracy, crits, parry and damage. Still, it could be a nice addition in the sense that you can glance at the screen and quickly tell what is what without reading. But then again, to remember all those... Also, for crit chance: "headshot" icon.

Yes. Of course. But there are still a lot of abstract things in the game. As for using it only once — same is true without icons. As for experience, a gold five-pointed star maybe?

Put a kind of bang around the crossed swords (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) like in the comics

Just a small update. I latter I may touch up later. I'll get to work on those attribute icons I've been asking for creative advise on next.
