Why tank? It’s not about survival, it’s about dealing some damage.

1H is defensive, stun is too much (1H stun too with counter attack too). Rapier debuf the mob => more damage QUOTE Why tank? It’s not about survival, it’s about dealing some damage. He is 14x not 3xx (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) This post has been edited by cestbienmoi: Dec 29 2015, 01:27

Alright, for starters: your gear is ridiculously underleveled. Ever thought about changing it or at least soulfuse?
Second, half of your gear gives only 1PAB (primary ability boost), which kinda sucks. If you have similar gear with 2-3PABs, change it already! PABs are working especially well for low-levels.
As for gear: 1h style provides a lot of cc itself and heavy armor gives enough mitigation to survive, so equipping a full (or almost full) set of Slaughter is a good idea. If you're grinding higher difficulties, rapier is better, as it gives more damage bonus due to -75% armor debuff. But if you're rushing normal, an axe or club with good damage roll works fine aswell (plus they're much cheaper to get).

Let's go over the choices:
Axe: Best damage, bad defence, pretty simple, good if you want to clear low difficulties (1-2 per monsters) or if you are higher level and you don't need the extra parry (there was a discussion on which weapon is faster between axe or rapier).
Club: Good damage, no parry but stunned enemies cannot attack. Useful for low level when parry and block are very low, at high level you don't want the enemies to be stunned (what you want is counter-attacks to damage the monsters and gain OC) so it's the crappiest option possible (no parry, bad proc and damage lower than axe).
Rapier: Lowest damage, but with power set the difference is not very high (a non slaughter leg set is ~85 ADB, a full slaughter is >100, Peerless Axe is 75, Peerless Rapier 51, most of the damage always arrives from the armor), good parry. The real highlight of the rapier is the proc effect, Penetrated Armor is indisputably the best proc in HV, as it increases the damage by a lot. Apart from low difficulties (when 1-2 hit are needed to kill a monster PA does not really shine) is the best choice. High level 1H play is pretty much rapier only.
Shortsword: Better than the rapier in every possible way except the proc, and that makes the shortsword inferior. Could be used as a cheap middle ground choice before switching to rapier.
Wakizashi: DW or Niten only (or 1H mage), bad damage, bad proc, only shines offhand.

thank you very much. a very constructive post. you said a club is not bad at low levels. so let me ask. what level should i aim to go rapier ? the level where club became useless ? This post has been edited by formigao: Dec 29 2015, 02:34

Let's say that past lvl 200 you should definitely abandon the club (maybe even earlier, depends on what you can find, if you can get a good rapier or shortsword go for it). At level 200 you get 3 counter-attacks, so you should use a weapon with parry and a shield with good block, it will increase the defences (more than the stun from club) and add to your attack. Between level 200-250 a shortsword is an acceptable choice, but you should start looking for a rapier because when you will want to switch to IWBTH or PFUDOR the rapier will be the most effective weapon.

unspoken strategy for fast leveling until lv 250
get leather armor. get estoc.
level up all the way to 250.
then go 1H
after lv 310, you choose.
stay 1H or go mage/

Okay, I've searched through my junk pile and found I had some rolls at 14X's. For, say, 30k credits I can give you a full set of this, this, this, this, this and this. (Can also add this if you want. All my weapon rolls at this level range were crappy). Not a good equip, but at least matches with your level if you wanna save soul fragments for something useful. (If you're okay with this, MM me).
