I wasn't even around that long and I noticed that.

Honestly, think about it: when people post just for the sake of posting, how long before the forum ceases to be a form of communication at all? Any decent reading material will be hopelessly buried by all the +1 posts. Helpful threads will be buried, so newbies will make new threads to ask the same questions over and over. The very rules of the forum will be skipped over because people get accustomed to quick-posting and never reading before doing so.
