> New Feature: Bounty Claim Reservations

The bounty system has been updated to let you reserve a bounty for a specific person.

In order to reserve a bounty, make sure the correct person has accepted the bounty, then click the "Reserve Bounty" button found below the acceptance. You can change or revoke a reservation at any time.

Reserving a bounty will prevent additional accepts and claims from being added. It will also prevent any existing accepts outside of the reserved one from being escalated to a claim.

It does not prevent you from adding additional rewards to the bounty, nor will it lock the bounty in any way - it can still be edited, cancelled, and have the rewards changed. Because of this, a bounty hunter should upgrade the reservation to a full claim before fulfilling the bounty.

It also will not prevent the bounty from timing out if it's left inactive for too long.

Note that these additions came with a major backend code refactoring, so let me know if you encounter any weirdness.

Yay for ways of preventing ninja claims. Though it still requires having someone legit actually having accepted the bounty.

You still didn't add mouse-over preview images for the bounty page? Seriously, it must be a simple fix but it's really needed when some bounties are poorly formatted and there's hundreds to skim through.

Yeah, that feature really would be seriously nice to have. I don't guess it's something that can't be lived without......but yeah, it'd be a nice addition.

It's not a simple fix, but it might be added in the future.

Can a bounty hunter still claim a bounty without the bounty poster escalating their "accept" to "reserved"?

Anybody kind enough to make a suggestion thread about a feature which gives authority to the poster to reserve the bounty please? No one can accept/claim the bounty so it can prevent this kind of case & cockblocker hassle.
(Too noob to initialize sober discussion)

i feel blessed, though i can't contribute through bounties for a moment.

Very nice addition to the bounty system, I say. Like people before me have said, it'll do a lot to prevent sniping.

Yes, assuming no other accepts have been promoted to reserved.

Oh awesome feature. I often forget to update my bounties to reflect that it's been reserved for a particular hunter because it's hassle having to edit the bounty every time (or to remove the reservation if the hunter ups and leaves the bounty hanging for long time).

Any limit about how many days a bounty can be reserved?

No, but it will time out after 30 days as usual, unless you add more stuff to it.

Interesting. What happens if you cancel the reservation?

And how long does the reservation last? Will it expire, like the accepted status?

Since I use bounties extensively for EHCOVE, here are some ideas that would make my life easier, through perhaps they are already obsoleted by the reservation system:
* bounties often loose the accepted status before they are finished; I think it's set at two weeks. It should be an easy fix to change it to a 3-4 weeks or a month.
* it would be useful for each bounty to display info on when it was accepted by whom, even if that would lapse.

With dozens if not a hundred bounties to manage, I for one often forget who is working on what. I started adding info to each bounty when it is accepted by someone and recently, when it was accepted (so I know how long it has been worked on by that person).

Nothing, it just turns back into an accept.

It does not expire, unless the bounty itself does.

The timeout is already 30 days. But they won't expire if they are promoted to reserved, so you can use that.

Now that I've put a couple of bounties I've posted under "reserved" , I notice they no longer show up on a search compiled by "Bounties Posted by You".

Is that how it should be?

Don't get me wrong, I know they're still "there", now showing up under "All Reserved Bounties"..........but, yeah, I'd have thought they'd still show up under ones I'd posted since that seems to be a fairly inclusive list (showing all opens and closed at least).

Just curious is all (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Hopefully people will actually use this. It was annoying back when I was contacting people about bounties to find out that they were already "reserved" by someone else with no mention of this on the bounty itself.
