0.74.0 - 2013-02-23
Action Speed Revamp
- Base Action Speed is now fixed at 100 time units. That is, it is no longer affected by Agility. This change affects both players and monsters, and means that you should no longer see a large speed disparity at higher levels. -- Note that Action Speed is still affected by certain effects (like Haste/Slow) and the weapon Swift Strike potency.
- Base Time Units/Action is now calculated as minmax(20, 10000 / action speed, 500) - action speed includes applied effects, but action-specific speed modifiers like Swift Strike could potentially reduce it further.
- Monster initiative (how many time units until first attack) is now random between 0.01 and 1.00 its attack speed, compared to a fixed 0.5 before.
- Effect duration as well as heal- and damage-over-time ticks have been partially decoupled from the round counter, and now tick every 100 time units, independent of speed-affecting effects and actual action time.
- Monster agility now instead grants a small (/100) bonus to evade.
Equipment
- Daggers and Wakizashi now have an innate bonus to Attack Speed. They can also drop in the new "of Swiftness" variant that further increases this bonus. -- Note that this potentially stacks with the Swift Strike potency.
- Weapons that do Soul damage (old ethereals) will now have the Void damage type instead. Implicitly, they also gain the Void Strike ability. -- Note that if this is a potency level 10 weapon, it will still have Hollowforged, even though it technically does nothing.
- Burden reduction was removed as a heavy armor proficiency bonus.
- Shield Armor was retired.
- Plate Armor no longer drops in elemental suffix variants.
- The first round of Armor Prefixes were added. Similar to Weapon Prefixes, these are rare variants of armor that provide a small bonus over the plain variants. -- Cloth Armor drops as Charged (+cast speed) and Frugal (+mana conservation) -- Light Armor drops as Agile (+attack speed) and Reinforced (+crush/slash/pierce specific mitigation) -- Heavy Armor drop as Shielding (+block) and Mithril (-20% burden) -- Buckler and Kite Shields can drop as Agile, Reinforced and Mithril, while Tower can drop as Reinforced and Mithril. -- All armor types that do not drop with elemental suffixes (all except cotton/leather) can drop as Ruby (+fire resist), Cobalt (+cold resist), Amber (+elec resist) and Jade (+wind resist) variants.
(Note that to avoid confusion, whatever equipment remained with the ancient Mithril and Ruby equipment level indicating names were renamed.)
Buffs and Scrolls
- The scroll version and normal version of a spell can no longer be active at the same time. -- If a scroll is used for a spell that uses innate arcana, the autocast is disabled until the scroll expires.
- Protection (normal) was changed to be a +25% increase in equipment armor bonuses to a straight +25% physical/magical mitigation boost.
- Protection (scroll) was increased to a +50% physical/magical mitigation boost.
- Haste (normal) was reduced to +25% action speed.
- Shadow Veil (scroll) was increased to +30% evade.
Monster Lab
- Chaos damage upgrade for monsters was reduced from 5% per tick to 2.5% per tick.
- A new Chaos Upgrade, Swiftness, was added to the Monster Lab. This increases a monster's attack speed by 2.5% per level.
Monster Mitigation, Part 1
- Monsters now use the player mitigation forumula for physical mitigation. Meaning, it doesn't increase as fast at higher levels, and caps at 80.
- The damage factor for Great Cleave and Shatter Strike were reduced.
(Changes for magic damage will follow in a future patch.)
Misc
- You can now set a CoD on MoogleMails with Hath attachments.
- Arcane Blow (basic staff melee attack) is now the sum of base physical and magical attack damage. (changed from phys + mag / 2)
- RiddleMaster appearance was tweaked. It will appear less often on average, but at less predictable intervals.
- Some of the early arenas were dropped, others had slight adjustment to round count and monster composition.
- Snowflake's Home for Abandoned Ponies (a subsidiary of Snowflake's Shrine) now accepts unwanted ponies in exchange for a random binding and 1-3 random high-grade materials. -- Don't think too much about it if she gives you leather. And make sure to try the lasagna, it's to neigh for.
0.74.1 - 2013-02-24
- Skill cooldowns are back to being tied to player turns.
- Innate Arcana now consumes mana based on the duration of your last turn.
- Haste (cast) was changed back to +50%, while Haste (scroll) was increased to +75%.
